Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Aivius, Inc. ("Aivius," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on aivius.ai and all subdomains (the "Service"). It is provided alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data more broadly.

For any questions about cookies, contact us at privacy@aivius.ai.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites function efficiently and to provide reporting information. Cookies allow a website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login or language settings) over a period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them each time you visit.

Cookies set by Aivius (first-party cookies) are placed on your device by our own servers. Cookies set by other parties (third-party cookies) are placed on your device by services we integrate with, such as Google for single sign-on. The ePrivacy Directive (EU) requires informed consent for all non-essential cookies. The CCPA (California) classifies some cookies as "personal information."

Types of Cookies We Use

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They enable core functionality such as user authentication and session management. You cannot opt out of these cookies — without them, features like logging in or maintaining your session would not work. Under the ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.

2. Preference storage

We store your cookie consent choice (accept or decline) in your browser's local storage under the key aivius_cookie_consent. This is not technically a cookie — it is a local storage entry — but we disclose it here for transparency. It persists until you clear your browser data.

3. Analytics cookies (not currently in use)

As of the date of this policy, Aivius does not use any third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics or similar tracking tags). We may introduce privacy-friendly, consent-gated analytics in the future. If we do, we will update this policy and will only load analytics scripts after you have clicked "Accept" on the cookie banner.

Cookie Table

The following table lists all cookies and local storage entries currently set by Aivius:

Name Type Purpose Duration Category
aivius_token HTTP Cookie JWT authentication token. Keeps you logged in to the dashboard. 30 days Strictly necessary
oauth_state HTTP Cookie CSRF protection for Google OAuth flow. Prevents login interception attacks. 5 minutes Strictly necessary
aivius_cookie_consent Local Storage Stores your cookie consent preference ("1" = accept, "0" = decline). Until cleared Preference

All Aivius-set cookies are HttpOnly (not accessible via JavaScript), use SameSite=Lax to prevent cross-site request forgery, and are marked Secure in production (transmitted only over HTTPS).

Third-Party Cookies

When you use Google Sign-In (single sign-on), Google may set its own cookies on accounts.google.com during the authentication redirect. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not this policy. Aivius does not control or access cookies set by Google on Google's own domains.

Other than the Google OAuth redirect, Aivius does not set or read any third-party cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing tags, or social media tracking pixels.

How to Manage and Delete Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Each browser manages cookies differently — use the help menu in your browser to find the relevant controls:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

If you disable all cookies, you will not be able to log in to your Aivius dashboard. The free monitor scan at /monitor will continue to work without cookies.

To withdraw consent after clicking "Accept," you can clear the aivius_cookie_consent entry from your browser's local storage (via developer tools → Application → Local Storage), or simply clear your browsing data. The cookie banner will reappear on your next visit.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict the processing of your personal data, including data collected via cookies. Under the CCPA/CPRA (California), you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. Aivius does not sell personal information. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting the revised version on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
